Seven Summits in the Hohe Tauern National Park
“Seven Summits”? This phrase makes tacit reference to the highest summits of the seven continents. Don’t worry though; we don’t intend to climb Mount Everest! Fixed-rope-routes in the Hohe Tauern National Park
The Hohe Tauern National Park offers fixed-rope-route enthusiasts some of the most spectacular “iron paths” in the whole of Austria. Examples are those on the 200 metre high Fallbach waterfall in the Malta valley, and on the Säuleck at an altitude of over 3,000 metres. But beginners are catered for too and will find several worthwhile fixed rope routes for practising.
Climbing in the National Park
The Malta valley is among the best and most significant primary rock climbing areas in Austria. Exciting new routes are continually being established on the best rock and in a fabulous setting. But also worth a visit are the “climbing garden” on the Danielsberg in the Möll valley, near the Reißeck funicular, as well as the new climbing centre in the vicinity of the Arthur-von-Schmid House!
